The Manhattan Mosque
I am torn by this topic. If this were a church, synagogue, hell, even a topless bar, would the repubicans, yes I said repubicans, be whining so much, NO. They think they can drive a wedge between the voters and dems during the elections this fall, but it is going to backfire.
The reality is that US Muslims denounce 9/11. It is the fundamentalists and radicals that are using religion as a weapon of war. News flash, the Vatican did the same thing during the crusades as did Hitler. Every radical leader uses religion as a way to motivate citizens.
Do I wish I would hear a loud and clear message from US Muslims denouncing terrorism and specific organizations like al Qaeda and Hezbollah, of course. I think their silence is causing a huge rift in America and across the globe, which will not end well.
However, It is a dangerous precedent to our way of life if politicians, both Dem and Republican, is able to use this topic as an election tactic.
Now, with that said, do I trust that this IMAM is trustworthy or honest, no. Do I think we need to have a clear understanding of where the money is coming from, hell yes. However, we can't be so naive to think that the NSA, CIA and FBI won't bug every square inch of this place like they did the Russian embassy in Washington. We will know every word that is said in this place.
We may not trust Islam, we don't have to like Sharia law, but in the interest of liberty, we have to tolerate it, even if they don't understand or tolerate our Republic. In the 1900s we had tons of ethnicities that poured into the US and there was a huge disdain for Irish, Italians, Germans, whatever. However, 50, 60 70 years later it was the best thing that could have happened.
Do not give into fear and do not let politicians fuel your fears. Re-read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Specifically research Adams' defense of British Soldiers during the Boston Massacre.

A reminder of our foundation
Most people forget that the US was founded as a Republic, not a Democracy or worse yet, a Capitalist based society, which is an economic policy, not a form of government. I would encourage each of you to spend 15 minutes today researching what a Republic is and how it is different from a Democracy.
As the Congressional elections heat up, I would also encourage you to challenge your elected officials to restate what their preferences are for how our government should be shaped in the coming decades.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

I wonder which enemy this knuckle head is referring too??? Not that I agree with what the guy did, completely, but at some point, we need to be able to hold our government accountable for the things they are doing or not doing. I hate to see good soldiers put in harms way, or worse, killed, but from what I have seen so far, the good far outweighs the harm this kid did by leaking the information.

Today I read of your administrations' plan to re-define September 11 as a National Service Day. Sir, it's time we had a talk.
During your campaign, Americans watched as you made mockery of our tradition of standing and crossing your heart when the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. You, out of four people on the stage, were the only one not honoring our tradition.
YES, "We noticed."

During one of your many speeches, Americans heard you say that you intended to visit all 57 states.
We all know that Islam, not America has 57 states.

When President Bush leaned over at Ground Zero and gently placed a flower on the memorial, while you nonchalantly tossed your flower onto the pile without leaning over.
YES, "We noticed."

Every time you apologized to other countries for America 's position on an issue we have wondered why you don't share our pride in this great country.. When you have heard foreign leaders berate our country and our beliefs, you have not defended us. In fact, you insulted the British Crown beyond belief.

When your pastor of 20 years, "God-damned America " and said that 9/11 was " America 's chickens coming home to roost" and you denied having heard recriminations of that nature, we wondered how that could be. You later disassociated yourself from that church and Pastor Wright because it was politically expedient to do so.

When you announced that you would transform America , we wondered why. With all her faults, America is the greatest country on earth. Sir, KEEP THIS IN MIND, "if not for America and the people who built her, you wouldn't be sitting in the White House now." Prior to your election to the highest office in this Country, you were a senator from Illinois and from what we can glean from the records available, not a very remarkable one.

Worse than that, the majority of them are people who, like you, bear no special allegiance, respect, or affection for this country and her traditions.

You are 14 months into your term and every morning millions of Americans wake up to a new horror heaped on us by you. You seek to saddle working Americans with a health care/insurance reform package that, along with cap and trade, will bankrupt this nation.

Adding to the list
Along with term limits for Congressmen and Judges, as well as a change to the term the President can have, I have added a new "want/need" to the list. Rather than electing a matching set of President and Vice, let's make the Vice run separately? This way we can see what we are getting rather than eye candy and a set of steak knives? Thoughts?
